Environmental Engineering:
The B.E. Degree in Environmental Engineering Programme of the department has been rated as grade 'A' course by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Facilities:
The Department of Environmental Engineering has been set up in the institution in order to create a broad based interdisciplinary centre of studies in the area of environmental science and technology. The regular academic programmes include 4 year B.E. (Env. Engg.) and M.Tech. (Env. Engg.). Apart from these activities, the Department is involved in sponsored R&D projects such as River Water Quality Monitoring sponsored by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India and Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and consultancy projects in the areas of Water & Wastewater treatability , Environmental Impact Assessment , Software development for environmental applications and other projects. The Department was involved in the design and development of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project assisted by the World Bank. This project has been prepared for Govt. of Karnataka and involved detailed field work with engineering design, drafting and cost estimates for 270 villages in ten districts of Karnataka. The department was also involved in "Water Quality Analysis in Rural Areas of Karnataka" for Kollegal and Periyapatna Taluk of Chamarajanagar and Mysore district respectively which was conducted for RDED, Government of Karnataka.
The Institution has also served as a Key Institution under the ITN-WATSAN Training Programme having jurisdiction of 5 states (Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu) and 2 Union Territories (Lakshadweep and Pondicherry) under the Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission programme, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
The Department has the following advanced/sophisticated instrumental facilities for academic, R&D and consultancy programmes apart from its host of conventional instrumentation facilities:
